Tidelands Health Nuclear Medicine Technologist II in Georgetown, South Carolina

Position Summary: Performs diagnostic imaging procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation. Prepares and administers radioactive chemical compounds known as radiopharmaceuticals. Knowledgeable in IV placement to avoid extravasations of radiopharmaceuticals. Performs computer processing and image enhancement. Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. Provides excellent patient care. Demonstrates excellent customer service. Assumes “on call” rotation on a regular basis. Tidelands Health technologists are required to cover all sites, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Completion of a Radiologic Technology Associates degree program or equivalent required

Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program preferred.

Experience: At least 1 (one) year of experience is preferred but not required.

Licensure/Certifications:

Must be CNMT or ARRT(N) Certified or eligible (If eligible, must become CNMT or ARRT(N) registered within two years of employment). South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association certified required.

Special Skills:

Knowledge of Anatomy and Nuclear Medicine scanning techniques.

Knowledge of Normal and Abnormal Anatomy, Physics, Computer Skills and Medical Terminology.

Knowledge of Radioactive chemical compounds, known as Radiopharmaceuticals.

Other:

American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the GHS Staff Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the GHS Staff Development Office are approved by Staff development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two years.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
